| Description | Founded in 1982 in Managua, is a network of research centers, NGOs, professional associations and foundations. CRIES promotes social and economic research in the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean based on the participation of civil society. Its work is based on the principle that the institutional and democratic consolidation requires monitoring and active commitment. The purpose of CRIES aims at deepening the participation of civil society in the process of regional integration and the formulation and implementation of public policies as well as promote an agenda of regional integration, not only for trade but also for integration social, political and cultural. At present, CRIES has more than fifty-four national and regional institutions involved in various advocacy and research programs at both the subregional and regional levels. The investigation focuses on the creation of a fair model of social development that is participatory and sustainable in the new millennium. The network CRIES funds its programs with contributions from foundations, government agencies and non-governmental cooperation in Europe and North America, and through bilateral agencies and multilateral cooperation to support academic networks. |
