| Description | Just as clear was the recognition that no longer could military power alone deliver peace. Urgently needed were radically new approaches to peacebuilding – approaches which relied first on the peacebuilding capacities of citizens in local communities. The Strategy Group was created to explore that new world of peacebuilding by Larry Seaquist, a principal at Venice and former US Navy warship captain who was then a military strategist in the Pentagon. Working over the next several years with citizens, heads of state, military leaders, senior officials, and youth from all walks of life in many at-risk countries, the Strategy Group designed and field tested a radically new, community-based framework of practical peacebuilding. Combining the Strategy Group’s innovations and their own rich expertise, the Strategy Group’s Global Action Network applies the leading edge thinking of innovative professionals and a powerful toolkit of proven methods to the path-breaking challenge of strategic peacebuilding. |
