CIVICUS is an international alliance dedicated to strengthening citizen action and civil society throughout the world. Our vision is of a worldwidecommunity of informed, inspired, committed citizens engaged in confronting the challenges facing humanity.
CIVICUS was established in
1993 to nurture the foundation, growth and protection of citizen action,
especially in areas where participatory democracy and citizens’ freedom of association are threatened.
CIVICUS’ programmes and organisational structure take into account the diversity that exists between countries and cultures, as well as the realities of continual change.
